Major life transitions are inevitable. These events catch many people unprepared for the emotional and financial consequences they bring, and we end up under a great deal of stress and worry.
Worry doesn’t solve problems, but it can make them worse by paralyzing us into inaction. We worry about potential outcomes that are often far worse than the reality of the situation, so we avoid dealing with the problem altogether.
The best thing we can do at these times is to seek help from qualified experts, and support from our families and friends. Decisions made under stress usually turn out to be bad choices. The best decisions are born of knowledge, good counsel, and careful deliberation. Ultimately, the wisest choice when we’re under severe stress is to lean on others rather than ourselves.
